Here at Nissan of Silsbee, we are happy to host our dealership just a short drive away from Jasper, Texas—a town with a rich, lengthy history, located in the Deep East Texas region.
The Jasper area was settled all the way back in 1824 when the region was still owned by Mexico, though a mere 30 families lived in Jasper in 1830 and the town wasn’t given its current name until 1835.
By the early 20th century, the population of Jasper had skyrocketed, and during that time, chicken and dairy farmers continued to grow the region, as the population continued to rise.
More than 8,000 people lived in Jasper by 2000, with 250 businesses, and the area became particularly well known in 2003 as a primary location for the recovery of Space Shuttle Columbia wreckage.
In 2012—Jasper became a hot spot for nature and gardening enthusiasts when the Outdoor Learning Center was added to the Jasper Arboretum and 14 entire acres of public gardens, a state-of-the-art greenhouse, and more.
Jasper also hosts a huge number of tourists every single year, thanks to the Sam Rayburn Reservoir, which is the largest lake located entirely within Texas borders. Boating, fishing, and picnics abound, especially during the spring season.
If you’re in the Jasper area, don’t hesitate to make the trip to Silsbee and visit us here at Nissan of Silsbee. We’d love to help you explore our enormous selection of Nissan models and help you find your next car!
