2026 Nissan Z Release Date

September 2025 to dealers and will go on sale in October 2025. It'll be manufactured at the Tochigi Plant in Japan, with no details on the start of production (SORP) yet.

2026 Nissan Z Changes - What's New?

Information on the new Nissan Z is limited. We know the Heritage Edition package is set to return after a year's hiatus with an exclusive paint color for the Performance trim. The Sports and Performance trims will get a new available paint color. The NISMO will also have a restyled exterior design.

We speculate the following changes for the 2026 Z lineup:

  • Akebono four-piston front calipers and two-piston rear calipers with 14 rotors

Available features like exterior ground lighting, a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and a Nissan tailgate audio system by KICKER should continue to be offered for the 2026 Z Performance.

2026 Nissan Z Heritage Edition

The 2026 Nissan Z Heritage Edition package was revealed to return to the upcoming lineup with an add-on price of $2,940 for the Performance trim only-totalling $55,920 MSRP.

Specific package details aren't fully available for the Heritage Edition, but we know it'll include the following features:
  • 19" bronze 19" RAYS wheels and Dunlop SP SPORT MAXX tires
  • Carbon fiber rear spoiler and unique door kick plates
  • Exclusive floor mats

2026 Nissan Z NISMO

The 2026 Nissan Z NISMO is the top-level performance-oriented trim, with pricing starting at $65,750 MSRP.

Its key features include:
  • 19" NISMO RAYS Gloss Black forged-alloy wheels and summer performance tires
  • NISMO/Akebono four-piston front calipers and two-piston rear calipers with 15 rotors
  • Aerodynamic body design, larger brakes, stiffer suspension, and a limited-slip differential

2026 Nissan Z Exterior Design & Dimensions

The 2026 Nissan Z is a high-performance sports coupe with two doors and a retro-inspired body. It has a raised hood bulge with sharp creases, twin crescent-shaped LED running lights, and an elongated oval-shaped front grille.

Exterior design details remain limited for all trims. We know the Sport and Performance trims will get a newly available two-tone Boulder Gray paint with a black roof. The Heritage Edition will come in an exclusive Midnight Purple with twin-turbo body badges and unique door kick plates.

The NISMO gets a restyled grille with a thinner honeycomb mesh, a taller and wider three-piece rear spoiler, canards at the front corners, red accents, and an exclusive Stealth Gray paint.

The new Nissan Z should continue offering most paint options from last year, with select availability per trim:

  • Black Diamond Pearl

As a carryover model, it should have the same exterior dimensions as last year's at 172.4" L x 72.6" W x 51.8" H with a 4.8" ground clearance for all trims.

2026 Nissan Z Interior Design & Features

The 2026 Nissan Z interior can fit up to two people, has sport bucket seats, and a cockpit layout as a high-performance sports coupe. Standard infotainment features include a 12.3" multi-function information display, wireless Bluetooth audio/phone connectivity, Apple CarPlay integration, and Android Auto compatibility.

The base-level Sport has an 8" NissanConnect touchscreen, while the rest of the lineup has a 9" touchscreen. All trims get a standard eight-speaker Bose premium audio system, except the Sport, with a six-speaker Nissan audio system.

As a carryover model, it should have the same interior dimensions as last year's for all trims:

A small tray in front of the gear level, a center console, cupholders, small bins, and an additional glovebox provide storage for your items. A cargo stabilizer system and cargo shade are available.

Cabin colors aren't confirmed for the new Nissan Z. We expect most options to be offered from last year, with select availability per trim. These were Graphite Cloth, Graphite Leather/Synthetic Suede, Graphite Red Leather Appointments/Alcantara with Red Accents, and Red Leather Appointments/Synthetic Suede.

2026 Nissan Z Engine Options & Capabilities

The 2026 Nissan Z engine is a front 3.0 L twin-turbocharged V-6 paired with a six-speed manual transmission, producing up to 400 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. The Sport and Performance trims have an available nine-speed automatic transmission with the same powertrain specs.

The NISMO gets an exclusive-tuned version of the same engine and standard nine-speed unit, producing up to 420hp and 384 lb.-ft. of torque.

We may likely see a hybrid variant in the 2026 Nissan Z lineup. The Chief Planning Officer, Ponz Pandikuthira, suggested that it has to adapt to tightening emissions and fuel economy ratings, and the best way to do that is by going hybrid.

The new Nissan Z MPG ratings aren't available, but should remain the same as last year's, varying per trim level and configuration:

According to the 2025 Nissan Z testing, it accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds with the manual transmission, 4.3 seconds with the automatic, and in 3.9 seconds for the NISMO. We may see a slight improvement in acceleration times for the 2026 Z NISMO.

The three selectable drive modes are:
  • Standard: Default drive mode for daily driving
  • Sport: Increased throttle response and steering
  • Sport+: Enhanced throttle response and quicker downshifts (NISMO-exclusive)
