If you’ve been fortunate enough to have driven an electric vehicle like the Nissan Ariya or Nissan Leaf on our Beaumont roads, you already know that these cars do not have combustion engines but have electric motors instead. So, do electric cars use oil? They do not use oil. This is one of the advantages of electric cars. Oil change costs are not something you have to worry about with these all-electric vehicles. There is still some minor maintenance you will need to do, like replacing and rotating the tires. But the cost of maintaining these cars is minimal compared to conventional gas-driven vehicles.
Hybrid vehicles, of course, are a little different than fully electric vehicles. Do electric cars use oil if they’re not fully electric? Yes, because, unlike a fully electric vehicle, a hybrid car has both an electric motor and a gas combustion engine. These two components work together to deliver a much more fuel-efficient performance on our Buna roads than a gas engine. So, all the maintenance that needs to be done for a conventional vehicle that runs on gas would need to be done on a hybrid car. There is still an advantage to hybrids, however. Because the electric motor assists the gas engine, it does not incur the same wear and tear that engines do in conventional gas-driven vehicles. So, maintenance is usually less frequent for a hybrid vehicle.
